Brief Trip Report – Tour of Taiwan

Including the Classic KOM up Taroko Gorge and onto Hulian Pass (105kms from sea level to 3,275m)

The STEAM tour of Taiwan are safely back in their team hotel in Taipei after 10 days cycling around the island hoping to be allowed back into Sydney virus free over the weekend.

Over 700 km cycled and 9,000m climbed with luckily the only incidents being sunburnt legs for Damien and a sore shoulder for Rob.

Highlights are too many to list but include climbing in the green monkey jungle mountains, interesting Chinese food, hot spring onsens, and riding through the spectacular Taroko Gorge.

There are upsides to travelling during a global pandemic – welcoming empty hotels & restaurants, tourist free sightseeing, and quiet streets.

We’ve all loved the shared experiences on the Tour and recommend Taiwan & Pedal Taiwan for anyone thinking of going.

We’re all looking forward to seeing our Steam buddies soon and telling stories over a decent cup of coffee

with no dumplings !
